Why has God created me?

08/08/2009 18:11

This question arises in the minds of thousands of people every day. However, with no immediate answer, they aloof into their own beliefs and superstitions, not knowing that God Almighty has created them for a purpose.

I have been fascinated by paintings created by great painters of our time. These are great works or the 'Magnum Opus'which mean, 'a great work of art or literature, especially the finest work produced by one artist or author'

We are the 'Magnum Opus' of God. We are a great work of art, created and fashioned by the Master designer. James 1:18 says, so that we should be a kind of firstfruits of His creatures [a sample of what He created to be consecrated to Himself].

We are God's best samples. God wants us to live as an example of His character and nature on this earth. We are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). None of God's creation, can ever boast of the magnitude of God's love for them, as we do, only because the Son of God died for us humans.

No human being is ever created alike. Our finger prints are different.

God has created us:

To worship Him

The greatest mystery as to why we are created is answered by Jesus in Matthew 22:37, 39. Jesus said, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself.

To minister to others

I am created to love God with my entire being and love my fellow beings with the love of God which dwells in me. Galatians 5:14 says, The entire law is summed up in a single command: Love your neighbor as yourself.

God has created you with plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). God wants us to love Him, serve Him, worship Him and live with Him forever.

To evangelize

Jesus gives a command before He leaves for heaven. He says in Matthew 28:19-20, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

For connecting Fellowship

Romans 1:1-7 says, We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves.

Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.

For even Christ did not please himself but, as it is written: The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me. For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.

We are called to have fellowship with God and with one another.

The first book of Paul's letter to the Corinthians 1:9 says, God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.

To make disciples

Matthew 28:19-20, Therefore go and make disciples of all nations

Jesus did not make a request to make disciples. He gave a direct command. We have to fulfill this command, the great commission, which the Son of God himself gave us before He ascended to heaven.

God has created us to love and serve Him all the days of our lives.
