Jesus Christ is your protective armour. He shall protect you against all flying arrows of the enemy.
You are to lay hold of Christ as your defence against the trick of the devil.
It is clearly states that you will wrestle against the powers of darkness. That is what makes it imperative for you to learn how to resist the devil.
The Bible says all you have to do is to wear your armour of protection.
You need the armour in order to defend yourself against, "the flaming missiles of the evil one." Ephesians 6:16
The parts of this spiritual armour is also very significant. That is why you must know what your spiritual armour is made of.
You must realise it is important for you to keep the various parts of this armour intact so that your whole defence will be intact, solid and efficient.
To stand and keep on standing you need to put on the whole armour of God.
Jesus Christ is the whole armour of God is given for you to withstand the evil day. The day of temptation or demonic attack will certainly come. The armour well in place allows you to stand and hold your ground.
You must pick up your armour and put it on.
But before then you must pull out all those things that will hinder the armour from standing properly in place.
You would find here the different parts of the armour of an heavily armed soldier, who had to sustain the fiercest assaults of the enemy.
There is none for the back; nothing to defend those who turn back in life's spiritual warfare.
“Now the just shall live by faith: but if [any man] draw back , my soul shall have no pleasure in him. 39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”
Hebrews 10:38 –39
There is no hope for those who turn back. The person who made a strange journey from Jerusalem to Jericho in the Lord's story fell among thieves.
“And Jesus answering said, A certain [man] went down from Jerusalem to Jericho , and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded [him], and departed, leaving [him] half dead.” Luke 10:30
He was robbed of his raiment, that is his armour. This lone traveller from Jerusalem to Jericho lost his protective coverings. He was open up to and exposed to the attact of the enemy.
This indicates the importance of the armour. The first step was for the devil to make sure he robbed him of his armour or make the armour inefficient.
Then this “certain” man was attacked, wounded and left half dead. That shows the works of the devil and his organised army of demons.
Therefore, there is no hope for those who look back in life's battles.
There is no hope for those who will not put on the whole armour of God.
There is no hope for those who will not stand, will full determination to win.
Yes, there is little hope for those who would not keep their eyes on Jesus Christ.
To be strong to win this battle against Satan, you must “Put on the whole Armour of God.” Ephesians 6:13
The armour of God is the only protective covering available to you. It is the only protection strong enough to withstand the attacks of the devil.
The armour of God is the only way to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
The armour is Jesus Christ. You are to lay hold of Christ as your defence against the trick of the devil.
“But put ye the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lust thereof.” Romans 13: 14
Paul wrote to Timothy, “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” 2Timothy 2:1
That is, the source of the armour is Christ. Christ is our defence. By focusing our attentions on Christ we are protected from the enemy.
By thinking, acting and talking in agreement with Jesus Christ you are secure.
By looking unto Christ, focusing on His Spirit you get fully covered from any attack of the enemy.
“[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” Romans 8:1
“And if Christ [be] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin; but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness” Romans 8:10
"For ye died, and your life is hid with Christ in God." Colossians 3:3
“Wherefore take up the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 withal taking up the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil [one]. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”
Ephesians 6:13-17
War is always a serious issue and soldiers are trained to follow instructions in proper order.
You must therefore agree as to the order in which these parts of the armour is to be placed if you are to be properly dressed.
A soldier is often call to order and discipline. No good soldier will put his belt upon his bare body and then put over it the uniform.
Therefore, you cannot alter nor reverse the order in which these parts of the armour are given.
For example, a person that wants to exercise the sword of the Spirit must first gird up his loins with the truth. He cannot do it the other way round.
